 Sunday Ride
Today I headed out from the house for an easy Sunday ride. Two days ago after my ride both inner thighs cramped badly and my legs are still sore from that. So I figured to ride to the cafe for an easy meal then take an easy ride up and down the trail. I rode through Falls Park and as I was leaving the park I saw a car with bikes mounted on it trying to get into a work parking lot. I asked them if they were looking to ride and showed them where a riding lot was less than half a block back. Once they were stopped I asked them what they were looking to ride since the trail is closed about a mile north of that lot. They wanted to go north so I told them how to get to the Cafe and park there. I rode on toward the Cafe, but when I got to Willard Street there were several riders trying to figure how to detour around the closed section. I told them the way around but also told them to follow me for easier streets that aren't so easy to point out. I arrived at the Cafe and had a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich with a cup of coffee and an oatberry shortbread. I also bought an oatberry shortbread to take home for Cis. Then I headed up the Trail and held a moderate pace. As I arrived in Travelers Rest I was feeling pretty good, so once I was at the cemetary north of TR I cut off the Trail and took Lindsey Lake to Tubbs Mountain Road and followed Bowers to the other side of Tubbs Mountain. I climbed Tubbs Mountain and took the big drop down it then followed Lindsey Lake back to the Trail. I rode back into TR and stopped at a convenience store on the south side for a bottle of Grape Powerade. I knocked off three bottles of water and a bottle of Powerade while riding today. When riding south there was a solid stream of cyclists, joggers, and walkers working there way on Washington Street to bypass the closed section. Washington Street is very rough and carries a fair amount of traffic. I found a couple of back streets that have very little wear on them and carry very little traffic. I rode back down to town, cut through town to bypass Falls Park, and rode to Cleveland Park then back home. I also ran into Bill D when riding south of the Cafe.
