Sold the Sofrider today
I listed my 2007 Sofrider for sale on Craigslist in early May, after a month and 3 inquiries, today I consummated the sale to Charles Duma of Ottawa Canada. It was a pleasant experience.

Purchased in 2007, the Sofrider was my first Recumbent Cruzbike. I had made extensive modifications to the bike, changing over to a triple crank setup in 2010. In 7 years, I traveled a little over 9,000 miles on that bike, -mostly work commutes. It served me well, and for the $500.00 price I sold it for, I am sure it will serve Charles well too!

Mr. Duma made the 275 mile trip to my house to buy the bike. From Ottawa to Spencerport, Charles made the journey in 4 hours and 30 minutes. After spending about an hour here, learning the finer points of a Cruzbike. With me demonstrating Cruzbike technique and handling, Charles confidently accompanied me to Twin Ponds Drive for some hands-on practice. He developed a reasonable proficiency quickly. Back at my house, we transacted the deal.

Loading the bike for transport back to Ottawa required minimal disassembly. Flipping down the rear seat in his Subcompact car. Detaching the handlebar/stem assembly from the head tube, and taping it to the front boom. We gently fit the bike through the trunk of his Sub compact vehicle. The bike fit in perfectly, allowing the trunk lid to latch securely.

The Sofrider is a great ride, but having 8 bikes for 2 people seems like we have more of a collection than necessary. Then too, considering that I had 2 Cruzbikes, and limited space, selling the Sofrider was a logical move.

Still, I am 100% committed to the idea that FWD and a SWB are superior recumbent design elements. That Sofrider is an excellent recumbent design. Every one of those 9,000 Sofrider miles is logged on my journal, with many simple commutes and group rides over the last 7 years.

I bought my Quest 3 years ago -9 months after my second TKR. Cycling is a key aspect to rehabilitation regaining flexibility after surgery. I think Cruzbike is the better FWD design of any of the other designs available. The Vendetta is a fantastic racing machine. My Quest continues serving me well on relaxed group bike rides and weekend rides with Ginny. Next, with a goal to get down to 5 bikes, I hope to donate sell the Specialized Globe and Ginny's vintage Raleigh Sprite.
