Still have a damaged quad but seems to be on the mend. Planned on a long slow ride with lots of low intensity spinning. Didn't start out that way as went up the steepness that is Havana but took it in the granny gear and wasn't able to spin it with that. It was only for the first mile though and then it was into the rollers on the way toward Van Etten. Took it very slow for the first hour and really milked the course. Legs started to feel better and added some effort up the first climb on Wyncoop Creek. It is a fairly friendly climb and easy if you aren't hammering it. Gradually picked up the pace on Wyncoop and tried sprinting up one of the small climbs. As I didn't have any issue with the quad, I added some intensity on the climbs out of Chemung then returned to spinning once I was back in a tailwind on Maple Avenue in Elmira. Spun the rest of the way home down the slot and ended up with a much better average then I planned on after the super slow first hour. It was ideal weather for riding at eighty degrees and a light south wind. I don't think it gets much better than that.
