My bus kids are catching on to the importance of riding with a properly fitting helmet. They have begun to mention helmet wearing to their parents too. Mentioning my bike crash, it's clear that my helmet played a keyrole in the lack of severity with my head injury.
Laura(9yrs) makes sure to wear her helmet as she peddles around in her driveway, awaiting the morning bus.
Michelle(7) has put out a request to her Grand Pa for a better fitting "lid" so she can ride further and with more confidence.
Chris(10yrs), reminds his mom to bring his helmet along with his bike to rendezvous with the bus in the afternoon.
Katrina(12yrs) never rides without her helemt as she does "intervals" on the road by her home.

Wearing a helmet has been considered common sense since BigJohn aka: bikerjohn had his crash last month.

For the first time, I stopped to chat with Todd the guy who owns the old cobble stone school house at Trimmer and Ridge Roads. Todd has owned the corner for a long while and runs a detailing garage behind the school house. His girlfriend Christina runs a dry cleaning delivery service in the school house. Todd seems like a first rate neighbor, citizen, nice-guy.

A genuinely nice guy, Todd expressed admiration for my dedication to cycling. He has seen me cycling past his corner for years. He has turned the second floor of his cobble stone building into a work-out gym with 2 "Chuck Norris Total Work-out Gyms" and some free weights. He seemed to really be impressed with my dedication to cycling for fitness.

Todd's got a great dog reminiscent of "Goldie" one of our great dogs from the past. So I call Todd's dog Goldie, in tribute to our departed girl. Todd's dog has exhibited some aggressive tendencies toward cyclists. So I think I helped diffuse her alarm by stopping and letting her "sniff out" the situation. She's a great dog!
