 Warmer Riding
The wind shifted overnight from a WNW to a WSW and the temperature was about five degrees above yesterday's ride. The wind was also less forceful today and was more of a nuisance today than the adversary it was yesterday. Started on Havana Glen today with its multiple sections of fifteen plus grades. Tried to envision myself standing the whole way but after a quarter mile or so I was trying to imagine filling my lungs with oxygen. Ended up crawling along but it wasn't painful just slow. Caught a crosswind outside of Odessa and it helped a little on a good section to Alpine. Started the second climb into the wind but it really wasn't a factor until the last quarter mile over the top. Had a decent climb overall and the downgrade to Horseheads went quickly. The novelty of the day ended in Horseheads and had to grind out the last fifteen miles in a forceful crosswind. It turned out to be a decent riding day, much better than yesterday. When I was in the sun it was quite pleasant, and the shaded portion were cold but not painfully so. Was surprised I didn't see any other riders today as this warm streak ends tomorrow.
