Sun came out and wind shifted to the south, and it brought in a good riding day. Unfortunately, we have another week of north wind and a couple more days of sub-freezing weather forecast. So tried to make the best of this jewel of a day. Wasn't sure how the legs would feel as worked pretty hard in the computrainer race yesterday. Headed up Fitzpatrick with intention of hammering the short steep section at the bottom then spinning the remaining mile of climb. Started out well but was back in the saddle about half up the first section. I did recover well though and spun the rest fairly well. Pushed through the rollers on Middle Road at good speed into the headwind and thought perhaps there was something wrong with my Garmin. Went with the good legs and had a good ride to Horseheads. Caught the tailwind and rode down back through the valley of SR 14 to home. Didn't really push it and was still able to finish above a sixteen average. Not really very impressive, but as I have been struggling to get fifteen on shorter flatter courses. I'll take it as a sign of improvement. Still have a long way to go and a short time to get there.
