Had to do hilly course at race pace on the computrainer later in the day and the air held quite a bit of moisture as rain was heading later in the day so just took a short ride to Salt Point. Bike shifted fine today but really had no use for the big chain ring. North wind was blowing and combined with the humidity made for a much cooler ride than yesterday despite similar temperatures. Just burned some calories and saved energy for the race pace later in the day. Rode the short Cooperstown course on trainer and was able to put out enough watts to stay will the group to the first climb where I was quickly dropped recovered slowly but was able to catch another rider before top of the climb at which point, I was dropped again. Rode in spurts although the average watts were dropping steadily but put out a good effort for twenty miles. Unfortunately, the course is twenty-three miles and had to slowly spin the last three miles and finished eighth out of eight. Last miles were a Death Ride as the legs were totally tapped out. Did poorly but exceeded my expectation. Should be a good riding day tomorrow.
