    The Ten Parks Tour today with BruceW and some other very competent riders;
    My ride time started before the official ride start.
    -other cyclists in attendance:
    Dave, a 40 something Engineer for ITT, member of RBC;
    Ben, a 26 year old Harris employee, a large build/stocky rider (my size), with extraordinary riding and climbing ability -much to be said for youth!;
    Veronica, an employed mother of 3 grown children, a 50 something cyclist with excellent technique and stamina;
    BruceW, ride leader and excellent pacer, waited for me to catch up, interval to interval;

    The ride was spectacular! There was a a bit of confusion as to the ride start time. The confusion was due apparently to an incorrect RBC time posting. The later arrival of the RBC riders made the ride start closer to 10AM than 9 sharp. Another time delay was food service at Vic and Irv's in Seabreeze. The restaurant was very busy. The food was worth the wait.

    I'd say I wasn't the heaviest rider on the tour. But looking at the photos from the ride it's clear I am the fatest! Yeah, and I'm the slowest and the oldest too! No problem for me but it might have been a drag to the others. If I can ever accomplish my weight goal all that will change.

    It was a hot day(mid 80's)! The heat effected my out-put. I averaged 13.4 MPH for the first 33 miles finishing with a 12.34 mph average, -slower than last year. The other cyclists averaged in at 13-15mph.

    I thought I should have posted a faster pace than last years effort. I'm no long distance biker but I do ride daily. And I'm pretty sure I was the cyclists with the most miles YTD.

    At points in the ride I was up to 1/4 mile behind the other 4 cyclists. Maybe, to the others, I looked like hell out there. But that is not how I felt -out there I was flying! The others seemed to be performing like sprinters, racing from interval to interval -just a different style and perspective on biking.

    Perhaps it's just that being the slowest, with the other cyclists perpetually seeing me carrying up the rear, the others tended to be asking me questions like "everything O.K.?" It is a likely sort of sympathetic response from the other cyclists. Fact is a 60+ mile ride presents no unusual stamina or performance issues for me. The ride speed was faster than my average ride speed. I have no frustrations about the ride or anyones perception!

    Everything in perspective, the ride was great!!

    142 consecutive cycling days (includes 14 indoor ride days);
    Surpassed my mileage goal for May.

    Last May 31st BruceW conducted the RBC Ten Parks Tour too.
