Legs were a bit worn and didn't relish another hundred degree ride but ended up just riding my 1987 Nouva Strada Masi down to Watkins. Started out a bit anxious as the bike doesn't fit me quite as well as my new machines. Wasn't really comfortable stopping with the rim brakes as I kept having to change my hand position to get a good pull on them. Also had to coordinate with the downtube shifters to be in an easy gear for re accelerating. After a couple miles started to feel a bit more comfortable especially on the open road. Unfortunately most of the ride consisted of heavy traffic and numerous traffic signs and lights in Watkins. Riding down with the tailwind wasn't too bad but the ride back into the headwind taxed my tired legs. Hard to believe I rode the bike over a hundred thousand miles years ago with many of the miles racing in packs. Would be hesitant now to ride in a sprint pack on this bike now, but it is probably just old age creeping in. Thought about doing some climbing but opted for a very short ride instead. Made it without any incidents so I guess it was a good ride. Got my workout in riding trainer earlier in the coolness of my basement.
