Had some bad luck in the morning Computrainer race as had a flat tire on the third lap of a five lap course. Good news was it I didn't have to fix the flat and ride to the finish. I just had to get off and let the rest of the crew ride for glory. Bad news was I didn't get in the full Sunday morning race pace workout. Weather was decent and so decided to work on my suspect climbing skills. Hit the steepness that is Havana Glen fairly hard out of the saddle and though kind of faltered midway still finished with a decent 7.3 average pace. Not really that great, but at my current weight I was happy with it. Pushed the headwind to Alpine and started the second climb up to Sullivinville. Put some effort into the long highway climb and finished much much better than the last time I did it. Had to push some more headwind into Horseheads then rather than catch the tailwind down the slot, attempted my third climb of the day up Ridge Road. Climbed a bit steadier and was happy with the results. Saw a couple of riders repairing a flat on the downhill to Odessa. Average speed wasn't too impressive, but I thought I made a good effort. My smart computer, as usual, disagreed and determined that I was slacking and only produced an effort worthy of maintaining my aerobic base and no impact on my anaerobic fitness. Guess I'll have to try harder tomorrow.
