 South Wind
Similar conditions to yesterday with the exception of the wind was one hundred and eighty degrees different. There was abundant sun at the start of the ride and a gusting south east wind. I went with the same game plan as yesterday which was to climb early into the wind. First section of climbing wasn't going very well as the legs were very stiff and heavy. I began climbing through a section of household trash scattered in and around the road where someone either intentionally or less likely inadvertently lost a bag of trash that exploded over a quarter of a mile of previously scenic countryside. My rear wheel also started to thump and then started to lose sealant around a plug I had used to try to extend the life of one of my tubeless tires. I stopped and positioned the leak on the bottom of the tire that sometimes helps with the sealing. It finally sealed although with a loss of a good deal of air. Thought about turning around and changing my wheel but again thought I might lose my motivation if I spent to much time off the bike and out of the wind. Finally decided I couldn't pass up a near seventy degree day given the recent poor weather and modified my plan. Cut about five miles of headwind out of my intended course as really didn't want to push threw it with a soft tire. Instead turned into a steeper climb out of Odessa up Ridge Road. Back hurt again but legs felt a little better than yesterday but still put in another bad day of climbing. Good news was that the climbing was over after seven miles and was able to motor downhill through the wind to Horseheads and pick up a strong tailwind on the last leg home. The only notable thing about today's outing was I sighted a pile of snow at the top of the climb overlooking Seymoreville. Not another cycling soul was sighted.
