Legs were tired from a couple days of climbing and I have a race in PA tomorrow so today was an easy touring day. Since the Watkins Glen Internation was having a Gran Prix celebration featuring MGs this year I planned on climbing Johnson Hollow in the morning. They have a road rally that tours the county in the morning and then the classic racers take two laps around the old Gran Prix course through the streets of Watkins Glen and the surrounding hills in the evening. Johnson Hollow is usually on the rally route, so I headed out to hopefully observe the cars as they passed me up the climb. Headed out into a stiff headwind to Millport and took it slow before turning out of the wind and heading up the climb. Got about halfway up before I saw the first solo MG convertible. Though I might have missed the rally as they used to have a long line of cars. A few minutes later more cars went by in small groups but only saw about a dozen that was a poor turnout from years past. Of course, there are probably quite a bit fewer MGs then some of the other cars they feature each year like Corvettes, Mustangs and Triumphs. It was kind of disappointing but still was glad to see a few. Descended down Steuben St to the main street of Montour Falls where the cars assemble after the rally but didn't go through the cars as the street was packed. Bypassed the main drag and did see some impressive cars as a Ferrari Club must be in town and was passed by a dozen of them. They looked and sounded spectacular. I felt like I was in an episode of Miami Vice. Not a bad ride overall but didn't do much work.
