Spent more time debating whether I should ride outside today than I did riding outside. Temperature was still slightly above freezing but a north wind was blowing hard and predicted to be increasing throughout the day driving the temperature into the twenties and the wind chill into the teens. Thought I would be okay if I got out early enough. Pretty much double bagged myself against the wind and went out for a very short ride. First thing I noticed were flocks of Canadian Geese heading south. Usually that is a late October early November sight, so most be either it is still very mild up in the Great White North or these were lazy geese and were just waiting on a good tailwind before making their trek. Took a cruise down Main St then headed for a quick lap around the Bird Trail. Just stayed out long enough to get five miles so that I could justify my trip as a real ride. Wasn't bad, except for the north facing leg. On the way back through town I saw some contractors installing a roof on a house. Think they most likely could claim the greatest suffering of the day, as they were moving around four by eight sheets of plywood on the roof totally exposed to the wind. I caught a tailwind home and got in before anything got very cold.
