Had planned to do some decent climbs today but kept putting the ride off using various excuses before finally deciding on an easy day. Pushed the legs hard yesterday and they didn't seem to do much recovering overnight. Opted for the Mechlenburg loop which has a couple of climbs but is mostly sheltered from the wind. Only stood for a brief period at the bottom of Old Odessa then set back and spun the rest. Tried to salvage some time over the top but didn't have any luck. Spun the second half of the climb up SR 228 without too much effort. Pretty much coasted the downgrade rollers to Mechlenburg and aided by the tailwind found myself edging into the low thirties with minimal effort which was a trip. Fun part of the day ended in Mechlenburg as I started the next climb. Actually did fairly well but legs finally gave out in a series of small climbs that followed. Opted to cut back down Skyline rather than ending the ride with a couple of miles of flat and headwind. Made the right decision by slacking off as the legs were depleted as I rolled into my driveway. Felt good to ride in the sun so can't complain too much. Didn't see any other riders.
