Headed over to Danby, NY for some group riding that turned out to be group climbing. Steve, Doug, Joe and I showed up and did thirty plus miles of a half dozen climbs with two rather steep and nasty ones. I wasn't terribly familiar with the area east of Ithaca, but I know we descended into Buttermilk Falls State Park twice. The first four or five climbs were long but not necessarily steep and I could stay hang with Doug and Steve two fairly good climbers. We got to rest at the tops as had to wait for Joe who is not currently climbing well and was just along for the suffering. We did have one delay as Joe ran over some road debris and I got a flat tire. Not sure how that worked. The last two climbs had steep sections with the last climb up East Miller having a mile of fourteen percent grade. Joe decided to bail on the last two climbs as he had lost a water bottle when hitting the debris and the ninety plus weather was requiring goodly amounts of water causing him to run dry. I got dropped on the penultimate climb by both Steve and Doug but was able to hold off Steve on the last climb though Doug dropped me soundly. Overall though my climbing wasn't too bad but probably used too much energy as have to drive to Lake George, NY for a metric century tomorrow morning. We did nearly four thousand feet of uphill over the thirty plus mile course. Group suffering was kind of fun but very taxing.
