Plan was to take a short ride in the morning and do a 10-mile time trial in the afternoon. Intended to climb north to Logan but the then decided I didn't want to push the northern headwind for twelve miles and after the steep climb up Skyline. Ended up doing a slow ride around Johnson Hollow where I could catch a tailwind to Millport and hide from the wind up the hollow. Stopped a couple places to remove debris from the road so as not to hit it with my tubulars later in the day. I left the deer and porcupine carcasses and would just have to go around them. Stopped to pick up some bolts on the shoulder and found a plethora of small bolts nuts and washers on and off the shoulder that must have fallen off the back of someone's work truck. Stuffed my jersey pockets until they swelled like a hamster's cheeks. I probably added five or six pounds to my weight. Didn't push the short climb out of Millport and coasted the downhill into Watkins. Turned out to be a pleasant ride. Ended up not doing the time trial in the afternoon as the legs didn't have much energy in them and thought getting a poor time might be worse psychologically than bailing on the ride. Pretty much still beat up mentally and hope more time off will re-energize my system and prevent a total burnout.
