Took yesterday off and ended up pounding calories and fluids. Numbers were looking better so decided to do a short ride with a couple of climbs. It was hot again with the temperature in the nineties and the heat index much higher. There was only a slight wind today and it was much appreciated. Headed up Jackson Hill to Ridge Road and then Seymourville overlook. Planned on climbing easy but made the mistake of looking at the computer and saw some decent numbers and thought I could do better. Really wasn't much faster on the steeper section to Catherine but on the second half of the climb I am much faster than I used to be. Crested the top with the best time in several years and celebrated by hammering the downhill to Horseheads. Returned by climbing back up SR 13 to Sullivinville. Kept a good steady pace without over doing the second climb of the day. Returned to Odessa on CR 14 at touring speed instead of riding the highway. Felt pretty good on the bike after an off day but still haven't shaken the cold, so will probably try to keep soldiering on but with shorter rides. Heat didn't really bother me today so must be getting used to it which is good as it is supposed to be here a while.
