Today was the first day of the year that I got up and it felt nice enough to ride right away. A little windy but at least it was in the single digits. Went out to do a couple of climbs and see haw the legs felt after yesterday. The ride wasn't too bad but sometimes the long drive back has an adverse effect on my legs. Started off on a highway climb up New Corning. Legs felt pretty strong on the first half of the mile and a half climb but started to feel a bit tender on the second half. The legs recovered nicely and the next five miles of upgrade went well despite the headwind. Next climb up Chambers road which is a steep climb from the west and a long descent down the backside. Can't say I hammered the fourteen percent grade but didn't bog down either. Was a little disappointed on the backside though as after fourteen miles of uphill was looking forward to twenty miles of downhill and tailwind to finish off the ride. Chambers road though is getting in disrepair and didn't feel comfortable building up too much speed. There is still a very nice view of the city below. After a couple miles of rollers it was all tailwind on the way home. Actually went faster on the downgrade then I did on the downhill. Nice day. Nice ride.
