 Climbing Day
It was forecast to be a warm day with light winds and no rain. Waited for most of the day for it to warm up and for the rain to stop. Started late in the day and so shortened my route by a good piece. Ride started off very poorly as I struggled into a cold north wind on my way to the base of the climb in Watkins. Thought it was going to be another day cold day fighting the wind. Ride improved as soon as I hit the climb and worked my way out of the valley. Climbing went fairly well, though there were no steep sections to contend with, only seven miles of between three and five percent grade. I got stronger as the climb progressed and the temperature rose. It was almost fifteen degrees warmer at the top of the climb, since the wind was no longer pushing all the cold air over the lake and into my face. Riding became quite pleasant after the climb. Did fairly well on the small climb out of Dundee and hammered the tailwind back to Watkins where the temperature dropped form the seventies back into the fifties. Had solid climbing though I missed a couple of climbs by shortening the route. Legs felt good and the sun drove off my case of the sniffles.
