Temperature was supposed to be in the sixties with a light southwest wind and even some early sun. I headed out to Ovid that I planned on doing yesterday and was really looking forward to riding in the warmth of the sun. First hour went pretty well and felt good on the first climb that is really more of a long grade. Second hour wasn't very nice at all. As I was riding along the east side of the lake nearing Valois I saw a micro storm cell forming over the lake with rain apparent. Thought briefly about heading inland to avoid it but also figured I might be able to outrun it as there was a couple of miles of downhill to Valois. Didn't make it though and the west wind pushed the cell over me. The temperature dropped form near sixty to forty six and I was doused with what I am assuming was recently lake water. Had to ride five or six miles in the rain until I got out of the storm. I was able to see another one forming over the lake ahead near Ovid and was not thrilled to ride into it again. Backed off the speed a bit and was able to avoid another another dousing, but the roads were wet and my legs were soon covered with a layer of mud. I was hoping that the mud would perhaps provide some sort of insulation on my bare legs from the cold but that was not the case. Got to Ovid and started to dry out and began heading back. Usually push the pace to Interlaken but the cold seemed to have taken all the strength form my legs and again found myself just spinning it out. Third hour started better as it was warming up and even caught a couple glimpses of the sun. Opted for the climb out of Interlaken rather than the rollers to T-burg and found myself really enjoying the climbing. Was planning on going over the hill through Searsburg but wasn't familiar with the road names and missed my turn and dropped back into Reynoldsville. Downhill went fast and finished off another uninspired ride though I was happy with the climbing parts. The cold rain and muddy parts not so much.
