Rain changed to snow during the night and temperature had dropped below freezing. Took the mountain bike out for a jaunt through Bad Indian Swamp. North wind was blowing hard again and the snow was falling at an angle. Would rather have had it a bit colder as although the snow was accumulating along the road, it was melting on the pavement. I had to ride a mile of pavement before going off road in the swamp and I was quickly saturated. So ride was unpleasant until I got into the swamp and then I got some protection from the north wind by the trees and cattails. Highlight of the ride was negotiating through a flock of geese that were lounging along the trail. Fun was over when I got into Watkins as the north wind started to have an adverse effect on my wet gloves and the fingers therein. The bridge over the canal is totally exposed and was less than a treat today despite the angry view. Once I got the wind to my back on the trail home it wasn't as bad, but the damage was done and the fingers were burning form the cold. Headed straight home without the usual tour around town. Wasn't much fun today, and I am really, really looking forward to complaining about the heat.
